When To Know It is Time to Ask for Help

As soon as you feel like your wheels are spinning, your energy is drained or you aren’t sure what to do next, it is time to ask for help!  I believe the most under-utilized strategy for entrepreneurs is ASKING FOR HELP.

Perhaps we believe we need to work hard, almost to the point of suffering, in order to achieve big results?  I’m not sure if we think it is a weakness to ask for support or if we think entrepreneurship means grinding and hustling and wearing all that hats. But maybe, it is simply that we think we are putting people out if we ask for what we need.  Most of the reasons we hesitate aren’t necessarily the truth.

Asking for help is brave, and usually the fastest way out of being stuck. Plus, people genuinely enjoy helping each other. So, what does this strategy look like in practice?  Let’s say you are spinning your wheels on a project.  It feels hard, clunky, and difficult to do alone…   You could:

  1. Email an entrepreneur friend to see if they have advice

  2. Hire an expert to outsource the project

  3. Call a mentor and talk through your obstacles, brainstorm solutions & determine your next best action

  4. Hire a Virtual Assistant to do research, scheduling, or drafting copy for you to finalize

  5. Schedule an accountability partner to get on a zoom co-working session with you every week to take high-leverage action together until it is done

How you do it is less important than the mindset shift into not going at it alone!  It can feel isolating and frustrating when it really doesn’t have to.  The next time you feel stuck, ask yourself:

  1. How can I ask for help?

  2. How can I make this easier on me?

  3. Who is an expert in this area?

  4. Who has already done this before me?

Then, take action and remember that people are more than willing to help others along on their own journey, and typically love to talk about the lessons they’ve learned.  If you want more info on where to start with hiring virtual assistants, watch this video or DM me today.
