The Timing will Never Feel Right, Start Before you Feel Ready
I had many reasons why it wasn’t the right time to start my business. First it was the 2008 recession. Then I needed to stick with the corporate gig to have more flexibility with young kids. Lastly, being a breast cancer survivor, I had to have the healthcare benefits from a J.O.B. These reasons felt real and solid and I know now that I was actually held back by fear.
I jumped into my business full time in July of 2019 and I’m so glad I finally took the leap. I have no doubt that, had I stayed, I would be furloughed by now and starting from scratch (in the middle of a pandemic). Following my intuition and taking the risk has never let me down.
What is your soul calling you to do? A shortcut is to ask yourself - “what would you do if you knew you could not fail?” Usually, the first thing that comes to mind is probably right on, don’t question your gut reaction.
I believe the seeds of desire are planted in you for a reason. The sooner you take steps toward your soul's whispers, the better you will feel. It drains energy to show up to the life that you know you want to change but are waiting until “someday” to do it.
It is easy to push the “someday” off and replace today’s excuse with tomorrow’s reason why you just “aren’t ready yet”. These divine urges are usually big undertakings. Things that will take courage, time, energy and effort. So why not start small and start now to get it going?
One thing that helps with overcoming the fear of starting is to take mini-steps repeatedly. What is the smallest action you can take toward your “someday when” project tomorrow? Can you do a google search, an informational interview, or tell a trusted friend about your idea? The next day, you can make another phone call, find a mentor, or research an idea. Put 30 minutes on your calendar per day for YOU and honor it like your most important doctors appointment.
Once you show the universe you are serious about pursuing this, you will be shocked at the opportunity, synchronicities and clues that will start showing up. They will lead you on your path when you keep showing up. The more you celebrate each little milestone, the compound effect will build momentum in your favor. Start before you feel ready, get support and keep going.
