Quieting The Mind for Greater Peace This Holiday

If you are highly sensitive like me, it can be difficult to quiet the mind this time of year. It can be very overwhelming.  And even if you aren’t a highly sensitive person, finding the opportunity to slip in some quiet, alone time can do wonders for your energy.  The biggest mistake I see people make when it comes to meditating and prioritizing alone time is allowing perfectionism to sabotage their efforts.

Starting small and allowing it to be a “practice” is the key to success!  Finding a quiet place to be alone and pay attention to your breath for five minutes is a good place to start.  “I can’t quiet my mind!” This is another common complaint I hear.  Or, “I’m not good at meditation.”  Were you good at anything the first time you tried it?  Practice ‘beginners mind’ and go easy on yourself.

Even if you simply start by prioritizing 5 minutes to yourself, listening to calming music. This is another way to start slow and build upon it.  Here are my favorite go-to guided meditations:

The most important thing is that you get quiet and connect inward.  There is so much power in grounding yourself, especially this time of year.  So find a few moments, connect with your breath and notice how your energy shifts when you come back into the whirlwind of activities.  Be patient with yourself and allow it to be messy at first. I’d love to hear about your experience, DM me, I have lots more resources I’d be happy to share.
