Shifting from Time Starved to Time Abundance
Have you heard this quote?
“Where attention goes, energy flows” - James Redfield
In other words, what you focus on, you get more of! Let’s talk about how this applies to TIME. What are some common things you hear people say about time?
I’m so busy
Where does the time go?
There just aren’t enough hours in the day
If you say these phrases regularly, don’t worry - you are not alone! In the day and age of back-to-back meetings, endless distractions, interruptions, tons of activities, and information overload, it is no wonder you feel time-starved.
Until you learn this little secret…
What you pay attention to, expands. If the second you wake up, your first thought is always - “I’m late!”, “I don’t have time”, “how will I get it all done with so little time”... Then guess what? You won’t! Because all of your energy and attention are on your time scarcity.
Instead, make a slight shift. Change your inner dialogue and where you place the majority of your attention. Then the reverse will happen - time abundance.
Experiment with finding and celebrating those magical pockets of time when they open up. Someone shows up late to a meeting and you find yourself with 15 extra minutes to clean out your email inbox a bit. You plan for one hour of traffic, to get into the city, only to find out there isn’t any, and you arrive early. You receive a voicemail that your doctor is sick today, so your appointment is canceled.
While these things may not happen often, they DO happen. The more you pay attention and celebrate them, the more time freedom you receive.
So the next time you catch yourself telling someone that you are “so busy” or that you “wish there was more time in the day,” catch yourself. Tell a new story. Start to speak into existence what you WANT to be true instead of complaining about your lack of time, and see what happens. Here are some phrases to start with:
Our schedule is full, and we are enjoying every moment
I’m living life to the fullest
I make time for what matters most
There is so much joy in the present moment
Notice how the energy flows to where you strategically place your attention.
