You Don’t Need a Plan, You Need to START

Those of us who come from the corporate world are used to tangible milestones, outcomes, productive, and linear steps, you know - A PLAN…  However, if having a plan was the answer to accomplishing everything, all good project managers would have huge accomplishment in their lives.  

When it comes to pursuing entrepreneurial future visions, it also takes a good dose of courage, creativity, intuition, discipline, self-trust and resilience.  You see, when the project you are trying to accomplish comes from your soul’s desires -  its typically big and scary-exciting!  

You know the kind… that you are afraid to even say out loud.  You aren’t even sure you are capable of following through.  You often tell yourself the reason you haven’t started it is because you…

• don’t know the right steps to take

• don’t know where to start

• don’t have enough time

When we are dealing with entrepreneurial outcomes like…

• writing a book

• launching a dream business

• changing your core line of business

• starting a podcast 

The whole project is extremely overwhelming and comes with a ton of resistance.  A more important step than having the plan is STARTING.  Here is how to jumpstart that:

1. Project yourself forward in your imagination to a time when this outcome is achieved

2. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and embody your future-self that has completed the goal

3. Ask your future-self “what are some possible actions that I can take to get there?”

4. Write down all the possible actions that come to mind, mindmap all the possible steps

This is not an exercise in finding the RIGHT steps, nor is it important at this stage to put them in the perfect sequence.  The important thing now is to follow your energy and intuition on where to start.  Your gut knows, trust it.  

Now START.  Take one 15-30 minute action per day.  Once you have taken a few of these possible actions, new ones will come to you.  Momentum will build and answers will begin to come together.  One step will lead to the next.  Follow the energy and breadcrumbs that come to you.  There is a compound effect that happens when you show up consistently to projects your soul is leading you to that will astound you.
